Sunday 1-22-11

So the teams for the Super Bowl have been decided!   Greenbay vs Steelers, the games were on, we even went to church early today so we could be home so hubby could see both games in their entirety.  I went to the office/craft room, had a Back to the Future fest and made a few cards.

Made this card for my Aunt Diane and Uncle Ed's 50th Anniversary, which was this month, I am not sure of the date, but I was telling her how much I missed my Mom and that my 50th birthday is this month, and she said that she remembered my mom at her wedding being VERY pregnant with me.  So I dug through some old items and found the rose and LOVE, which was made with Billie's Cricut, then I found the DG and EG already cut out from another project, and I just had to made the 50.  the card is a strange size, but I liked the layers and the corner and straight punch that I used.

I decided that this design will be for my next Stamp Class in February, I saw this design from one of the Stampin Up demonstrators who I get emails from and it is way adorable.  I have so much double sided paper so it should be no problem to make these,  the design is very easy and I used my square punch, oval punch and a diecut for the larger oval.  I rolled the backgrounds.  I really like these both.

The main element on this card was made a long time ago, at my friend Desiree's house, I like the frame stamp with the bee's inside them, I could not find the words, Got Honey?  but knew they were were somewhere, so I kept looking, and then on the inside I had the honey jar and the words You're the bees knees.  The edge punch is a Martha Stewart that I got a Michaels on sale.

The words on this card were extra elements from a Scrapbook page that we made in class a while back, I found them on my desk today, so I cut them apart.  I used double sided background paper and thought that I'd show the 'other' side so I bent down one of the corners, the brown chain was left over from Billie's house and I secured it down with brads rather than glue.

Close up of the brads and double sided paper.

Inside I used the last word Sunshine and I included a stamped sunshine as well, I added 2 strips of the paper to the bottom of the card, and on the left side you can see a strip of paper which I added to cover up the back of the brads from the front, if I had been thinking I could have secured the brown chain to the white strip then attached it to front of the card, then the back of the brads would have gone through the front of the card.
That is it for now.  My desk is still a mess, and I just hate to clean it up, but I am using only a very small space to work on, then I have to expand to my husbands desk so I can use the rollers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp class on Thursday

This past Thursday I held a stamp class for a few of my stamping buddies.  We usually get together once a month and enjoy dinner together, then go back to my office for stamping.  The last class I organized was in July!  Many of the ladies had asked me when we would start up again, so I designed 3 cards and we had class on Thursday!  It was good to organize the projects and get together with the ladies and share dinner and stamp.

My first project was a Valentines Day card, I had purchased the brown cardstock at Michaels for only $.99 a package, a good price, but the quality was not as good as I am used to.  So I layered it over the pink cardstock and that was much better.  I really enjoyed embossing at Billies last weekend, so we embossed the hearts with a Versamark pad and clear embossing powder.  We used the oval punch to make the peek-a-boo for the heart.  The little hearts are an old set from DOTs (now Close to my Heart) and the words are from Stampin' Up as well as the large heart (Funky Favorites) in the peek-a-boo.  The Pink ink and cardstock are Stampin' Up! Pixie Pink.
The second project was a little girl in a rain coat, and I used bright colors, Stampin Up paper, Real Red, Ballet Blue and YoYo Yellow.  The little girl is from Imaginations and I think she is cute.  My first card was just layers and it is OK,
but then I remembered that I had some great words for the rain coat girl.

so I left off the Ballet Blue layer and moved the little girl down, if I would have had my stamp positioner I could have stamped the words a little higher on the front, but I think the words are great. Everyone's card was slightly different, which I like to see, as each of us used different colors to color in the image.  We embossed the little girl so that when we colored we would not bleed the ink over the black lines.

The third project used some pieces from my christmas card.
The main card is Almost Amethyst Card Stock, Stampin' Up!, we also used the scalloped edge for the Pretty in Pink strip and the Lovely Lilac piece behind the chair.  The part that was from my Christmas card is the white strip that I ran thru the Big Shot with an embossing folder.  The big comfy chair is from Stampin Up, Funky Favorites.  I used Lovely Lilac ink for the chair.  The Thanks so much is a stamp from DOTS (Close to my heart).  I used a Stampin Up jumbo roller, Sweet Stars for the left edge just to give it a little extra something.

My fellow crafter/stampers all had a good time, and it got me stamping again.  I have already put on my calendar class for next month at least on the 1st Thursday, and if there is enough interest then I will have a 2nd class on the next Thursday.

Peace Y'all

I was very much enjoying using Billies embossing powders, this one was blue with a little glitter in it.  I do like the look of embossing but I sometimes forget to use that technique.  Again I was using her scrapbox, the little ovals are discards from one of her projects but the color looked just right with this project.  I think I have two more cards to share from last week at Billies house.

Another card

Happy Tuesday to you!  This is yet another card that I made at Billies on New Years Day.  Again I was using her Taylored Expression set "from the 60's" (as my DH indicated! ) I embosssed the background using Travel stamps that Billie had from another place (sorry don't know from where)  I put all of them on the clear block and stamped it as a whole rather than stamping individual images everywhere.  The cardstock was Stampin Up Not quite Navy. I used the versamark pad with clear embossing powder.  I was still using Billies Scrap Box, and found the red/orange ring, and the layers behind the VW Bus.

Billie punched out a brown 'chain' for the project she was working on and I liked the 'discard' ovals so snatched them up and added some glitz with some black jewels she had on hand. I tried my hand at the 'chain' and I really liked it, I think I need some of those (whatever they are!)  I think I stamped the bus image with Versamark ink and used a colored embossing powder.

The VW bus image reminded me of my friend Pam and her family, they had an orange VW Bus and I remember riding to the beach with them as Pam's older sister drove.

Have a GREAT Wednesday!

Another card from Billies House

When I showed my husband the cards that I created at Billies' he asked if this was the '60's set'.  This is another set from Taylored Expressions (I pretty much only used those sets on Saturday) and I stamped the car on background paper and cut it out, I thought that way I would not have to color it in.  Before I stamped the car I found this piece of background paper in the Scrap box, and I thought, this looks like Groovy paper!  One of the gals I work with drives a VW Bug, and one of the other ladies just went to the Dr and her blood work was not great, so the saying fit just right, although I am not sure if either of them drive too fast!  I loved the purple flower brad, thought that added the right amount of 60's to the card!  My daughter liked this card because it is a different shape, one of my friends would say it is a "hot-dog card".

Stamping with Billie

I made this card yesterday when I visited Billie.  I used her stamp set (Taylored Expressions) and I really like it.  The punch was a punch that I gave her for her birthday  (EK success) and it is a very cool punch, only 1/2 of it is showing here.  I embossed the background using a versa mark pad and clear embossing powder, she had a Stampin Up large roller.  Billie had made some glue dot's and the colored them, however I am not sure how she did that, but as I was rumagging thru her stuff I found them and I liked them, so I used them. (thanks Billie!) I was using her 'scrap' box for most of the paper that I needed.

I made this card to send to our friends to thank them for, yes, dinner and a great evening on New Years Eve!  I also made several other cards, however I have not yet photographed them so I will tackle that tomorrow.

I felt really good to stamp and create something!  Thanks Billie for letting me invite myself over for a fun day!

1-1-11 A New Year!

Today I spent the day with my good friend Billie at her house.  She has an amazing stamping room, and all I brought over was white card stock. I used her stamps, inks, embossing powders, and other stamping supplies.  It was a wonderful day!  I had a GREAT time, and I have several cards that I will share this week.  I am too tired to do that tonight, but I promise I will show the cards that I made.  I hope that 2011 is a GREAT year for one and all!
